  The Charleston RiverDogs are a minor league baseball team based in Charleston. The team plays in the Class Single-A South Atlantic League and is an affiliate of the New York Yankees. Their home field is at Joseph P.   The Battery is a landmark defensive seawall and promenade in Charleston, South Carolina.   The corner of Meeting and Broad Streets in Charleston, S.C., has four buildings, which each represent different legal jurisdictions: St. Michael’s Episcopal Church representing God’s law, Charleston City Hall representing city law, the Charleston County Courthouse (originally the provincial capital) representing state law, and the Federal Courthouse (and U.S. Post Office) representing federal laws. As the locals love to smirk: You can also go here to get married, get taxed, get divorced and go to jail.

  Fort Moultrie is a series of fortifications on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina, built to protect the city of Charleston. The first fort, formerly named Fort Sullivan, built of palmetto logs, inspired the flag and nickname of South Carolina as “The Palmetto State.” The Battle of Fort Sullivan is said to be the first decisive American victory of the American Revolution. The fort was renamed for the U.S. patriot commander in the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, General William Moultrie.
